History
The 1st Huszár Division was a cavalry division formed originally as the 1st Cavalry Division from the 1st and 2nd cavalry brigades in 1942. Both of which took part in the Invasion of Yugoslavia before becoming a division back in 1941.
It was later renamed as 1st Huszár Division in 1944, the Division took part in the defense of Hungary against the Soviet invasion during the war, part of it was later encircled and destroyed in the Siege of Budapest with its remnants surrendering to US forces in Styria, Austria and others to Soviet forces east of the Enn River.
