History
Established October 5th 1944 and first deployed in 1944 on the 24th of December, the 1st Royal Hungarian University Assault Battalion was an unit of the Hungarian Royal army made up of nationalist young students of the hungarian universities.
The Batallion was first deployed near Hűvösvölgy when they were alerted of the first soviet break-ins into the city.
They would participate on the fighting on Rose Hill (Rózsadomb) then took part in the outbreak, 11 February 1945.
Originally the number of soldiers the battalions had were around 600- 800 students, only 32 students choose to break out with the German and Hungarian troops on the evening of the 11th of February 1945, the rest had already fallen in combat or taken prisoners by the advancing Red Army.
