History

The 3rd Armoured Division (French: 3e Division Cuirassée, 3e DCR) is a unit of the French Army formed during World War II that took part in the May–June 1940 Battle of France. It was exclusively equipped with Char B1s and Hotchkiss H39 tanks.

Formed 20 March 1940 at Reims. The division was rushed to the frontlines on the 14 of May where they engage German forces of the 10th Panzer Division and Infantry Regiment Großdeutschland during the Battle of Stonne as part of XXI Corps under the command of Jean Flavigny.

After the loss at Stonne they would take defensive positions near the Fort La Ferté.

The Division would surrender to the German army between the 17 and 18 of June
