History
The 51st Division of the Chinese National Revolutionary Army was a central government division that served in the battle of Shanghai and the Battle of Nanking as part of the 74th Army under the command of Yu Chishi.
During the battle of Shanghai they were part of the reserves of the 15th Group Army alongside the other division of the 74th Army, the 58th Division, and the 6th Division.
After the fall of Shanghai the 74th Army would retreat with the remains of the battered units from Shanghai and mount the defense for the city of Nanking, there the 51st Division would be refited with new recruits due to heavy loses in Shanghai.
