Division History
the 92nd Naval Infantry Brigade, subsequently described as “Sea Devils” by their enemy, was formed from the Volga Flotilla in September 1942. Its two battalions were rushed to the defence of Stalingrad holding the Grain Elevator south of the Mamayev Kurgan in the face of heavy attacks.
The 92nd Naval Infantry Brigade took such serious losses that it was disbanded at the end of the campaign.
