History & Info

This uniform features the M36 tunic with white infantry piping of the shoulder boards with infantry litzen, an open collar, M37 trousers, and M39 jack boots. In 1933 when the Nazis had come to power, the Reichswehr, the armed forces of the Weimar republic, had neared completing their new model of the feldbluse (field-blouse). In that same year, this new feldbluse would be worn by the bodies of the Reichsheer and even the Wehrmacht, where in 1936, the new designs would be made where this uniform would be worn during and at the start of WWII, and being known as M36 tunic. This tunic was in feldgrau (field grey, a greenish grey), and had four pleated pockets which could hold documentation, bandages, personal items, and even the Eihangrenate Mod.39 "egg" grenade, and 5 front buttons, the collar and shoulder boards were also a bottle-green color. Compared to Weimar-era uniforms, the skirt of the feldbluse was shorter, so troops sitting in dirty environments wouldn't have such a dirty uniform.

This uniform also had an internal suspension system, allowing internal suspenders to be placed inside, and hook to be slid through, exiting the tunic, and holding up the belt as the German didn't start to wear suspenders with their uniform until around in 1940, and actively in 1941, but in this case, they are wearing suspenders as it could still be done. As mentioned, piping and litzen (collar tabs) were used to indicate what jobs a soldier worked as, such as, infantry, panzer grenadier, engineering, medic, artillery, and more, the collar litzen used in game is the black and white infantry litzen, with white infantry piping of the shoulder boards. Along with the tunic as mentioned earlier is the M37 trousers, which were also in feldgrau. The trousers had a high waist, adjustment belt at the rear, button fly, pocket watch, and straight legs.

These trousers were intended to be worn with suspenders, with the Heer and SS having their own design. The M37 trousers did not loop holes for a belt. The M39 jack boot, or marschstiefel are the black dyed leather boots worn by the German Heer throughout the war, but mostly being mainly only being most common during the early war stage along with the the rest of the uniform as later models would be made such as the German M43 uniform which is not in the game yet. The M39 boots in game do also have the hobnails and heel plate that the boot did have in real life. This uniform in the game can mostly be found in campaigns set around 1940-1942, especially in the both the 1942 infantry, mechanized infantry, and even the flamethrower squad, being worn by both rifleman and the squad leader.
